It has been a great few days of Football, with the Scotch 1st XVIII winning the Cordner-Eggleston Cup and the OSFC ‘Stars’ winning the Premiership in the VAFA Premier B Women’s Competition.
Last Thursday the Scotch 1st XVIII (6.9.45) defeated Melbourne Grammar (5.5.35). It was a closely fought match between the two sides, with the large crowd not deterred by the cold, wet and windy conditions. Best players included Jake Phillips, Harry Scott, Connor Ferguson, Ollie Iser and Mackenzie Allen. OSCA hosted a well attended pre-match Luncheon for parents of players and the decade teams from MGS and Scotch.
Then on Sunday the Old Scotch Football Club ‘Stars’ (4.3.27) defeated Fitzroy FC (2.2.14) winning the Premiership in the VAFA Premier B Women’s Competition. Despite early challenges the team’s willingness to keep pressing and outperforming Fitzroy with work rate finally produced results with 2 late 3rd quarter goals. In the final term the managed to find 2 goals and thwart repeated forward entries from Fitzroy. It was one of the great wins, coming from 4th and having not beaten any of the finalists in the home and away season. Congratulations girls!
