Tim Black (’87) is a practising architect, having co-founded BKK Architects in 2000 in Melbourne. BKK Architects is a design-focussed, mid-sized practice of 25 staff in which Tim shares the leadership with two Principals. Tim has an MBA from the Melbourne Business School and has also undertaken Civil Engineering studies at Melbourne University. Beyond Architecture, Tim is involved in a number of start-ups and maintains an ongoing interest in the space. He is a passionate skier and remain an active member of the Koomerang Ski Club.
At BKK, Tim works with public, institutional, and private clients with a sectoral focus on education, urban design, transport infrastructure & masterplanning. He is particularly interested in projects that have a broad social and economic impact, ones that benefit the whole community. BKK often delivers projects in collaborative partnerships with other firms, deliberately seeking out opportunities to team with creative and technical specialists so to bring new ideas and energy to their own work. BKK is a a certified carbon neutral business and has a Reconciliation Action Plan endorsed by Reconciliation Australia.
